Learning to Witness and Cultivate our Heart and Mind

A Day of Mindfulness in the Tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh
with Margrit Romang and Brenda Phillips

Often we rush through daily life without giving much credence to our bodily sensations, feelings and perceptions. However, without realizing it, we identify very strongly with these mind states, which seem to arise unbidden. If we slow down enough, we can develop more awareness about this stream of consciousness and we can cultivate an awakening to a happier life.

Learning to differentiate between what brings us happiness and what brings us suffering provides us with the opportunity to open our hearts and minds to the potential within us.

We will start by practicing acceptance of all our states of mind and then, like a good gardener, we will nourish the seeds that bring beautiful flowers and transform the seeds that bring suffering.

Thich Nhat Hanh says: “Beauty is a heart that generates love and a mind that is open.”

During this workshop, Margrit and Brenda will lead you through meditation exercises designed to help you deepen your mindfulness, concentration and capacity to observe what is unfolding in your mind and heart from moment to moment. We will focus on practices that help us grow our capacity for loving kindness, compassion, joy and inclusiveness.

Please bring a vegetarian brown bag lunch and wear comfortable clothes for sitting and mindful movements.
